Vice guvs' league takes neutral stand on Cha-Cha

The League of Vice Governors of the Philippines agreed to take a neutral stand on the move to change the 1987 Constitution, saying it would rather conduct an information drive to educate the people on the pros and cons in the shift of form of government from presidential to parliamentary.

League president and Bohol Vice Governor Julius Caesar Herrera believes that proper education will guide the people in coming up with sound decisions come plebiscite time.

"Nakita man gud nato nga daghan na kaayong mga huna-huna nga nanggawas sa pagka karon nga nakahatag kalibug sa katawhan. Maayo nang naay information campaign," Herrera pointed out.

He said they also encourage local officials to participate in discussions and spearhead debates on the issue.

Last Thursday, Herrera attended the opening of the Union of Local Authorities Provincial Summit on Constitutional Reforms in Tagbilaran City headed by Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado.

According to him, he noticed the lack of time given to the people to discuss the issue. However, despite the so-called lack of time, organizers claimed success of the summit, he said. - Jose P. Sollano
