Brownout in some areas of the city this Sunday

-
Several areas in Cebu City will experience brownouts on Sunday morning and afternoon due to the scheduled preventive maintenance works that the Visayan Electric Company will undertake.

VECO announced it would conduct its annual preventive maintenance at its Carreta substation and, as such, will temporarily transfer its substation load to the feeders in the Calamba and Ayala substations.

Various line maintenance works for the upgrading of its facilities will also be done on the same day that would cause power interruptions, but only on short durations, in several parts of the city. But VECO did not specify the time and areas that would be affected.

From 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., VECO's transmission and distribution linemen will also upgrade the system protection along Acacia, Tojong, PD Calomadre, Molave, C. Rosal and Morales Streets, and Solon Drive in Lahug.

From 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., brownouts will hit Escario Street and Escario Extension, Clavano Street, East Capitol Street, Villalon Drive, parts of F. Ramos Extension, M. Roa Street, J. Avila Street, Osmeña Boulevard, Don Gil Garcia Street, Jasmin Street, Mariano Cui Street, Rosal Street and P. Rodriguez Street.

VECO's crew would install facilities for reliable and safe power distribution in these areas.

From 5 a.m. to 5:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., VECO will also facilitate load transfer switching and upgrading of distribution line facilities, causing power interruptions, in barangays Lorega-San Miguel, Hipodromo, Lahug, Guadalupe, Calamba, Sambag II, Sta. Cruz and Cogon Ramos, Zapatera, Day-as, Barrio Luz, Kalunasan, Camputhaw and Upper Camputhaw.

However, VECO assured consumers in these barangays that power will resume right after the upgrading works. - Wenna A. Berondo
