2 men executed 'vigilante' style
May 6, 2006 | 12:00am
Two men were shot by suspected vigilantes last Thursday evening in sitio Tagunol, barangay Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City.
The victims were identified as Vincent Amancio, 20, an umbrella repairman and Richard Lopez, 18, a trisikad driver.
Homicide Section investigators said both victims were sitting by the side of the road talking when two men on a motorcycle, their faces hidden by helmets and bonnets, stopped nearby.
The passenger got off the motorcycle and pulled out a .45 cal. pistol and shot Amancio first, hitting him twice in the back and head.
Lopez ran towards the interior portion of the said barangay but the assailant shot him in the back as well and he fell to the ground, the assailant then walked up to him and fired two more shots to finish him off, one to the back and the other to the head.
The assailant then returned on board the motorcycle last seen speeding towards Cabreros Street in barangay Basak San Nicholas.
Police recovered 10 .45 cal. shells from the crime scene. Both victims were brought to the San Fernando Funeral Homes.
PO3 Roger Nedamo of the Homicide Section said that based on the information gathered in the area, Amancio was allegedly a notorious burglar who broke into houses whenever its occupants were asleep or away.
While Lopez has no derogatory record in their place, they surmise he was killed just because he was with Amancio at the time. - Flor Z. Perolina
