Operator killed after backhoe falls into ravine

A backhoe operator was killed when the heavy equipment he was driving fell into a ravine in sitio Balaas, barangay Guimbangcoan, Sibonga town the other day.
Anastacio M. Ybañez Jr., a resident of barangay Basak, Mandaue City, was driving the backhoe, owned by Socor Construction Corporation, at the road asphalting project site when the incident happened Monday noon.
PO2 Jose Jamiro told The FREEMAN that Ybañez lost control of the backhoe when he maneuvered the equipment backward, causing it to fall into the ravine and seriously injure his head.
Ybañez was rushed to the Carcar District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
His body was transferred to St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy. - Therese Marie Amodia, STC Masscom Intern
