A 27-year-old man who was on his way home from attending the "Kadaugan sa Mactan" celebration was abducted last Thursday dawn by three unidentified men, who robbed him and then brought him to Tanawan, barangay Guadalupe, in Carcar town, then tried to kill him by pushing him off a cliff.
Larry Berdon, a quality auditor of Makoto Metal Technology based in Mactan Export Processing Zone, Lapu-Lapu City, and a resident of barangay Babag I, of the said city, claimed that past 1 a.m. last April 27 three men blocked his way and invited him to a drinking session.
When he refused to go with them, the men grabbed him and pushed him inside a white Mitsubishi van.
Berdon narrated that while they were traveling, the suspects punched him several times and hit his arm with a broken bottle, then took his P2,700 cash and mobile phone.
When the vehicle reached Tanawan in Carcar, Berdon said he was pulled out of the vehicle and pushed from a cliff.
He recounted that he was left there dangling at protruding roots of trees at the cliff side. He held on until residents came to his rescue after he shouted for help. He was then advised to report the incident at the Carcar police station. - Norvie S. Misa
