Fernando Paunil, 37, suffered one gunshot in the back causing his instantaneous death after he was allegedly shot by his brother Clyde Paunil, 25.
According to PO3 Romeo Balano the suspect and the victim had a heated argument over the alms collected during their mother's death. Clyde Paunil was furious, walked away and returned with a gun then shot his brother.
The suspect later surrendered to the police and is now detained in the Naga Municipal Jail.
Meanwhile, two separate hacking incidents involving farmers were reported, one in Sibonga and the other in Danao City.
In Sibonga, Paulino Clarion Paller, 23, and a resident of barangay Cantolaroy was hacked by Marlon Paler Clarion, 21, around 6 a.m. last Sunday.
Paller was hacked in both hands with a scythe. The suspect's wife Jocelyn, was also hacked by her husband in the right leg.
Both victims were rushed to Deiparine Medical Clinic for proper medical treatment.
In Danao, personnel of Danao District Hospital informed Danao City Police last Saturday around 9 p.m. that there was a hacking victim admitted to their hospital.
The victim was identified as Jemelito Guarin Suguran, 42, a farmer and a resident of Brgy. Cabungahan, Danao.
The suspect was allegedly Joseph Calvo Camasi, 33, also a resident of the said barangay.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim and his brother and two others were drinking beside the roadside in barangay Cabungahan, Danao City, when the suspect arrived with a bolo and challenged them to fight.
The victim refused and tried to calm the suspect down but the suspect answered by hacking him in the left elbow.
Suguran was rushed to the District Hospital while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to barangay tanods. He is now detained at the Danao City police station. - Nancy Marie C. Dael
