A 50-year-old tanod, who was deemed missing by his family since Black Saturday, was found dead floating on the seawaters off sitio Locon, barangay Poblacion, Alegria town Tuesday morning.
The body of Exuperio Jabierto Lendio, a married resident of sitio Calut, barangay Guadalupe, Alegria town bore no signs of foul play and that drowning was the cause of death, according to municipal health officer, Dr. Samson Dela Peña.
Senior Inspector Dionpe Español, Alegria's chief of police, told The FREEMAN yesterday that investigations showed that the victim's wife alleged that Lendio was suffering from a nervous breakdown for almost 10 years, with suicidal inclinations due to fear that someone might kill him.
Meanwhile in Alcantara town, the police reported that last Good Friday a man died when struck with a piece of wood in his head by his drinking buddies in barangay Lawaan while another was stabbed and wounded in barangay Candabong for kicking the 13-year-old son of the assailant.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jovito Tejas, according to his wife, was drinking liquor near their house with Primitivo and Christian Toquero, residents of the place, before the two cousins struck the head of the victim with a 2x2 piece of wood.
Alcantara Police chief, Sr/Insp. Ranulfo Lastimoso, said that the victim's son saw his father grappled first with Primitivo for the piece of wood before the latter hit his father's head with it. The boy added that Christian struck his head also with a piece of wood.
Lastimoso said Tejas died on the spot while the boy was taken to the hospital for his injuries. The suspects are now detained at the police stockade pending the filing of charges against them.
In barangay Candabong, Alcantara, 39-year-old widower Edgar Dumagpi suffered four stab wounds in various parts of his body after he allegedly kicked the son of his suspected assailant, Loreto "Weng-weng" Matilos.
Dumagpi was immediately taken to the hospital while Matilos escaped although the police have prepared the filing of charges against the alleged assailant.
Lastimoso said that investigation, done by SPO2 Jessie Asencion and PO3 Joel Beriarmente, showed that when Dumagpi kicked the boy, Matilos, the latter's father saw it and got a kitchen knife then stabbed Dumagpi. - Norvie S. Misa
