BIR to put up counters for late tax filers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue would put up an RDO Tax Deadline Easypay Counter (RTDEC) at different revenue district offices in Cebu and Tagbilaran City to accommodate income tax filers who would try to beat the deadline.

The RTDEC would be open on April 17 - the deadline for filing income tax returns - from 8 o'clock in the morning to 5 o'clock in the afternoon.

The RTDEC is authorized to accept cash and or check payment "not exceeding P10,000 per income tax return.

In case of a check payment, it must be written with regard to the payee as "Pay to the Commissioner, Bureau of Internal Revenue."

BIR officials have asked taxpayers to demand for official receipts for every payment.

RTDECs will be located in RDOs in Subangdaku, Mandaue City, BIR Building in Archbishop Reyes avenue and N. Bacalso avenue in Cebu City; Tabunok, Talisay City and in Tagbilaran City in Bohol. - Gregg M. Rubio
