The three policemen are Inspector George Ylanan, chief of the Drug Enforcement Unit, SPO3 Isagani Pugoy of the theft and robbery section, and PO2 Regalado dela Victoria.
They have submitted the needed documents attesting their performances, and certifications that they have no pending cases at the Police Internal Affairs Office.
Kiwanis Club of Cebu chairman Mike del Gallego yesterday said that originally there were four that joined the search but the fourth one failed to get the acknowledgment from the person to whom he listed as reference for his character.
Del Gallego said that, in the case of the three finalists, the club will wait for feedback from the public on the character of these policemen. But after ten days, if there are no complaints against them, these policemen will be called for a final interview.
Ylanan was chosen a finalist due to his vital participation in the eventual arrest of two notorious robbers, Rey Torres and Danny Limotan, at separate places in Mindanao last year. Ylanan was also cited for his accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Pugoy made it to the finals because of his successful arrest of two teenagers who were the suspects in the killing of a high school public teacher in Mandaue City inside a rented house in barangay Mabolo, Cebu City last April.
Dela Victoria, for his part, carried the distinction of being the Regional Police Office's "Best Junior Police Non-Commissioned Officer" awardee last year.
Dela Victoria has been cited further for responding to a shooting alarm in barangay Pardo last April even if he was off-duty at the time.
