The victim, Antonio Pille, died at the hospital an hour after with multiple stab wounds in various parts of his body, while the suspect, Arcadio Sayson, is now detained at the City Police headquarters pending the filing of charges against him.
Their neighbor, Cesar Alfanta, said he witnessed the incident and arrested Arcadio before calling for a tanod. The tanod in turn brought the suspect, and the 8.2-inch knife used in the killing, to the City Police.
Antonio's houseboy, Julaude Halit, told the police that he was cleaning outside the house when he saw his bloodied employer lying on the ground. He quickly informed Antonio's daughter about it prompting the latter to bring her father to the hospital.
In an interview with Arcadio later yesterday, he said he never regretted to be imprisoned for what he did to Antonio, whom he suspected of having an affair with his live-in partner, 50-year-old Francisca Pepito.
"Una ni nako buhata, gipinsar ko na ni daan, busa wa ko magmahay kay lima ka buwan ko na ning giplano kay nagtuo dyud ko nga usa na ni sila ka tuig nga uyab," Sayson said.
Arcadio believed the affair has been going on for a year already but his elder sister, with whom he had confided about it, refused to believe that her husband Antonio had a sexual relationship with Francisca.
Francisca herself, when confronted before by Arcadio on the matter, had persistently denied the accusation.
But Arcadio said there had been nights before that he noticed Francisca no longer by his side and saw her instead talking to Antonio outside their room at dawn. He further alleged that he caught them once before, although he refused to elaborate about it.
Yesterday morning, Arcadio saw Antonio checking on the house electrical wiring and stabbed the latter several times.
