Provincial Board member Juan Bolo, in a proposed resolution, said several private schools are using RVAT as an excuse to raise their tuition fees when in fact tuition fees are not included in the imposition of such tax measure.
"The E-VAT should not be used by school officials as a convenient means to impose increase tuition fee rates," Bolo said in his proposed resolution.
Bolo has also sponsored a separate resolution expressing support over the move of the Department of Education in giving more weight to psychological factors in the recruitment of new teachers.
PB member Victor Maambong has also filed a separate resolution to this effect.
Maambong cited a recent incident in Taguig City where a second grader in an elementary school there was reportedly maltreated by her teacher, which caused the death of the pupil.
In view of this, DepEd has initiated a review of its guidelines in the hiring of new teachers and the continuation of the implementation of the Personal Safety Lessons curriculum in private and public schools nationwide.
Maambong said such program seeks to develop awareness of positive values among the learners, parents and community towards the protection of children against abuses in and out of schools. - Cristina C. Birondo- Cristina C. Birondo
