A six-year-old boy died when hit by a passenger jeepney, which was moving rearward to park in front of the public market in barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City Wednesday.
The victim, Michael Toreno, suffered fractured bones in various parts of his body when taken to the Balamban District Hospital where he was however declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Investigators said the boy, who was from barangay Apili in Balamban town, was waiting for his grandfather who bought some items inside the market and he was just standing outside when the jeepney hit and crushed him over.
Zosimo Caminos, the driver of the jeepney with plate number GVS-303, immediately surrendered to responding traffic policemen.
Toledo Police Station traffic chief, SPO3 Celso Dagala, said Caminos failed to notice the child because the jeepney's cargo had blocked his view of the rear area. - Flor Z. Perolina
