3.3-magnitude tremor hits Leyte, Cebu City

A 3.3-magnitude earthquake rocked Palompon, Leyte and Cebu City at 12:59 p.m. yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology ( Phivolcs ).
Rolando Montañes, science research specialist of Phivolcs, said the tremor was tectonic in origin, possibly coming from the submarine fault of the Philippine fault zone segment in Leyte island.
He said the epicenter was located in Leyte, and the quake was registered at intensity-3 in Palompon, Leyte and intensity-2 in Cebu City. - Jasmin R. Uy
