1 killed, 6 hurt in road mishap

One died, three were seriously hurt, while three others sustained slight physical injuries in a vehicular accident in sitio Ilag, Cantabaco, Toledo City Sunday morning.

The attending physician at the Toledo City Hospital declared Mario Zabate, 22, single, of Guimbawian, Pinamungajan town dead on arrival while his two other companions - motorcycle driver Brylle Ian Sanchez, 19, of Lamak, Pinamungajan and Quirino Fuentes, 20, single, also a resident of Pinamungajan, were later on transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further medical attention.

Initial investigation conducted by the responding traffic officer revealed that an Isuzu Elf truck driven by one Clifford Billones was traveling from Talisay City heading towards barangay Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City. Billones was reportedly negotiating an uphill road and a slight curve when a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction overtook another vehicle and rammed onto the front portion of the truck. The three passengers were thrown off the motorcycle.

While the truck was taken to the Toledo City police station, Billones, who reportedly sustained injuries on his face and eyes, was immediately taken to a hospital in Cebu City.

Floria Alegado, 46; Virginia Roxas, 40; and Philojean Roxas, 18, all residents of Bulacao, Talisay City who were onboard the truck sustained slight physical injuries.
