Thrill seeker shoots 2 men, 1 killed

One was killed while two others were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in barangays Talamban and Quiot, Cebu City, yesterday dawn and Saturday night.
Rafael Quibuen, 21, and Joel Cortez, 28, both residents of Nasipit, Talamban, were shot by an unidentified person believed to be a student of a university near where the incident happened.
Initial investigation conducted by the responding Homicide Police led by SPO1 Jay Yballe revealed that the victims were on their way home after attending a vigil when they happened to meet an unidentified man.
For still undetermined reasons, an altercation ensued among the men and the assailant shot the victims.
Quibuen was hit in his nape and was rushed to the Perpetual Soccour Hospital while Cortez who suffered a gunshot wound in his chest was also rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
Further investigation revealed that both were victims of mere thrill-seeking. Police have yet to identify and locate the assailant.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Quiot, a tanod was shot at Sabellano Street near Japer School late Saturday night while a checkpoint operation was conducted at the said place.
Cleofe Murillo was shot by Saulo Aballe, 26, of sitio Sto. Niño in same barangay.
Initial investigation conducted revealed that Pardo Police Station chief Alexis Relado together with tanods of the barangay conducted a checkpoint at the said place. The suspect was onboard a passenger multicab from Bayanihan, Basak-Pardo to Colon. Upon reaching said checkpoint, Aballe immediately disembarked from the vehicle.
Murillo went after Aballe onboard his motorcycle. Aballe later shot Murillo without any provocation hitting him in the right shoulder.
The victim was brought to the Chong Hua Hospital, but was declared out of danger by the attending physicians.
