3 snatchers caught in Lorega, Ermita

-
Police arrested three suspected snatchers in barangay Lorega-San Miguel and barangay Ermita Friday afternoon following calls from concerned citizens about their presence in the two areas.

But one of the robbers was shot in the knee after he tried to fight back at a responding policeman.

Elements of the Theft and Robbery Section rushed to Imus Avenue in barangay Lorega-San Miguel after a call from concerned citizen of the presence of two snatchers identified only as Hugo and Agri who were alleged to have been involved in a series of robberies in the area.

As police arrived in the area, the suspects tried to flee towards F. Villa Street. But PO3 Jeffrey Diola pursued and shot one of the suspects who was later identified as Aniceto Lagudas, alias "Hugo" or "Intong", in the leg when the suspect reportedly pulled out a .22 caliber revolver.

Police confiscated the gun then brought him to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is presently recuperating.

Meanwhile, the elements of the Carbon police arrested two notorious snatchers at the Carbon Market Friday afternoon after a call from an informant about their presence in the area.

The responding police immediately recognized the snatchers as Randy Nacar, 28, of barangay Ermita, and Randy Java, 21, of sitio Lawas in barangay Pasil.

But the suspects immediately surrendered upon noticing the lawmen and turned over their knives. Police also recovered two decks of shabu from Nacar while another deck of shabu was seized from Java.

A certain Tinebro Rizon, of barangay Duljo-Fatima who came over to the police station, identified the suspects as the ones who snatched his Italian necklace worth P4,000. - Flor Z. Perolina
