-
A man believed to be a notorious robber was nabbed during a hot pursuit operation conducted by elements of the Crime Against Property Desk of the Cebu City Police Office after he robbed a woman of her cash and jewelry reportedly worth P30,000 early yesterday morning in sitio Sangi, barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City.

The victim, Charlene Lazarte, 24, a resident of the mentioned place, was about to enter the gate of her rented house when two men, one of them later identified as a certain Jhevi Goc-ong, 29, a resident of sitio Ubos Puso in the said barangay, came and approached her.

Both men then reportedly pulled out their knives and told Lazarte to hand over her bag. From there they took P15,000 cash, a mobile phone, bracelet and wristwatch which also totaled to another P15,000.

After getting the cash and items the two men left her.

As soon as the victim reported to the police the said incident and described to the authorities the physical features and profile of the alleged robbers, the policemen immediately rushed to the house of one of two suspects and picked him up from there, the suspect being a resident of the area.

The police then arrested Goc-ong in his house and when he was taken to the victim's house, Lazarte was able to positively identify him as the robber who took her cash and jewelry.

Police said that it was already the second time that the suspect was arrested for same crime.

The suspect is now detained at the Camp Sotero Cabahug pending the filing of appropriate charges against him. - Flor Z. Perolina
