Police offices get new names
March 8, 2006 | 12:00am
The Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau and other sections of the Cebu City Police Office will be renamed under orders from Camp Crame.
Pursuant to PNP Memorandum Circular 2005-010, dated July 7, 2005 the "Standardized Functional Set-up for PNP Investigation and Detective Management" is implemented effective last February 20 2006.
CPPO acting director Supt. Melvin Gayotin yesterday said that the renaming is purposely to have uniformity for all police offices in the country. Gayotin said it is often that two offices with the same function have different names.
The CIIB is hereby modified and renamed as Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) which has also been modified to several units as follows; the Investigation Section is now the Investigation Unit while the Warrant and Subpoena Section is now the Detective Management Unit.
The Criminal Records Section and the City Crime Laboratory Section have been fused into one unit now called the Criminal Records Management and Evidence Unit. Gayotin said that whoever has the most senior rank in the two offices automatically becomes the new chief of this unit while the junior officer will be his deputy officer.
The Pre-charge Investigation Section is renamed as Pre-charge Investigation Unit.
Under the Investigation Unit, the Homicide Section will become as The Crime against Persons Desk while Theft and Robbery Section is now the Crime Against Property Desk. The Family Gender and Juvenile Sensitivity Section will now be called the Women and Children's Concerns Desk and the Vice Control Section will become as The General Investigation Desk.
Supt. Gayotin admitted that the new names will cause some confusion for a time but he said: "Maanad ra na sila, sa una bitaw ang among uniform batian man sila pero karon nindot naman pud tan-awon." - Norvie S. Misa
