-
Consolacion town mayor Avelino Gungob, Sr. led the 33 awardees in the town's "Tanging Mamamayan Award" during its 86th founding anniversary the other day.

Marilou Herrera, chairman of the awards committee, said that the awards recognized citizens, both living and deceased, whose generous lot donations gave way for the construction of elementary and secondary schools in their respective barangays.

Herrera said that because of the lots donated by various generous individuals and institutions, several barangay halls, basketball courts, daycare centers and health centers were constructed thereon. Municipal and barangay roads were also constructed because of the generosity of these people and organizations.

The award also honored distinct individuals whose extraordinary performances in their fields of specialization are worth praising and emulating.

"Our honorees did not only contribute properties, but have shared their dreams for our schoolchildren and the aspirations of our people. They did not only give what they have but they have shared what they are," Herrera, who is also the municipal assessor, said.
