VECO bares schedule of power interruptions

Brownouts will hit some major downtown areas of Cebu City, and parts of Mandaue City, Minglanilla and Consolacion towns this weekend, the Visayan Electric Company has announced.

On Friday, VECO will facilitate the upgrading and rehabilitation of its lines along V. Gullas Street in Cebu City resulting in an eight-hour brownout from 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Then from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., VECO will relocate its pole at its Cabancalan 211 feeder in Mandaue City that will cause a four-hour power interruption in barangay Cabancalan, and from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, the affected areas will be barangay Tawason in that city, and barangay Bacayan in Cebu City.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., portions of barangay Linao will also experience brownouts due to pole and line upgrading at Pardo 312 feeder.

On Saturday, VECO will relocate a pole in its Cantao-an feeder in Minglanilla town that will result to brownouts in barangays Sangat, Greenhills and Lantawan in San Fernando town from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the pole at the Ermita feeder will be relocated, which will cause power interruption in parts of barangays Buhisan and Punta Princesa, Cebu City.

Also from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be line upgrading at the Consolacion 312 feeder affecting power in portions of barangay Tayud of the town.

Finally on Sunday, brownouts will hit parts of barangay Basak-Pardo in Cebu City, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., while VECO replaces the rotten poles at its Ermita 56 feeder. - Wenna A. Berondo
