Sometimes it does not pay to be a good Samaritan.
A woman who allowed a homeless man to live in her house for two weeks ended up being robbed by him in Dike1 Exoville, sitio Tagunol, barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City last Saturday morning.
Emie Pielago, 48, a resident of the said place, reported to the Pardo Police last Saturday morning that she was robbed by a certain Richard Largo of Balulong, Cagayan de Oro City.
Pielago said that two weeks ago she met Largo in the street near their house looking so hungry and she approached him.
Largo claimed he was a homeless stowaway from Cagayan de Oro City and decided to come to Cebu even if he did not have relatives here.
Taking pity on Largo's plight, she offered to let him stay in her house. For two weeks nothing happened.
Then Saturday morning as Pielago was getting ready to go out and buy something Largo allegedly pulled out a fan knife and held it against her neck.
He took her money before fleeing on board a jeepney.
Pielago then reported the incident to Pardo police but they failed to arrest the suspect during a follow-up operation. - Flor Z. Perolina
