Minor held after botched taxi rob

A juvenile who held up a taxi driver was taken to hospital shortly after getting shot by a Maritime policeman last Friday night at Pier 5.

Police said taxi driver Aldwin Limbaga, 36, had picked up the juvenile at the pier area. While somewhere at Pier 5, the juvenile demanded for Limbaga's earnings. When Limbaga refused, his passenger went at him with a pair of scissors, grazing his head.

Limbaga got off and sought for help. Since the juvenile went on his way casually, Limbaga, PO1 Rey Reponsa, and a colleague, easily caught up with him.

The juvenile refused to heed Reponsa's order to give up. And when the policeman was near enough, the juvenile turned around to strike Reponsa with the pair of scissors he had with him. But Reponsa was quick to draw his gun and shot his would-be assailant in the knee. - Flor Z. Perolina
