Mandaue market earned P18.4 million in 2005

-
The Mandaue City Market has exceeded collections for 2005 by P2.1 million compared to their annual collection in 2004.

Market administrator Antonio C. Taylo, in his accomplishment report addressed to Mayor Thadeo Ouano, said that the market authority was able to collect P18,425,112.12 last year against the P16,238,469.37 collection in 2004. Last year's collection increased by P2,186,642.75.

Taylo stated in his report that despite the demolition of the Guizo Satellite Market and the non-collection of cash tickets from vendors at the back of St. Joseph's Convent due to preparations for construction works, the market authority was still able to meet and even surpass its target collection of P18 million.

The bulk of the collection, the report said, was from cash tickets and stall rentals.

Taylo also reported that they were able to confiscate 144 defective or fraudulent weighing scales and was able to calibrate 678 weighing scales.

The market authority also apprehended thieves victimizing marketgoers and those arrested were turned over to the police. It has also scored in the apprehension of hot meat before these were sold to the public. - Mitchelle P. Calipayan
