Talisay council wants city chief of police out

The Talisay City Council wants acting city police chief Audie Villacin to be replaced for his lack of cooperation and "inefficiency."
In a resolution passed yesterday, the council requested regional police director Eduardo Gador to replace Villacin because of his "lack of a comprehensive operations plan, transparency, and effective management of his men."
Villacin served as acting Talisay City police chief for six months. But during his time, the council resolution claimed that Villacin "has not proved effective in his mettle to combat the pernicious activities of illegal drugs and other forms of criminality in the community."
The resolution, which was authored by Vice Mayor Aberdovey Belleza, the chairman of the committee on peace and order and public safety, added that Villacin "snubbed" the several meetings of the Traffic Commission of which he is a member.
Belleza said Villacin also failed to furnish him a copy of the daily incident report. The vice mayor added that being the head of the peace and order committee, he has the right to know the crime rates in the city.
The council also took note of Villacin's relief order of the six policemen last year despite the fact that the city lacks policemen.
When asked for his comment, Villacin said he would accept whatever the city government decides for him.
Villacin, however, denied that he snubbed the Tracom meetings, explaining that he sent P/Insp. Rolando Evalle to these gatherings being the head of the traffic division. - Liv G. Campo
