Carmen town hall gets bomb threat

An employee of the Carmen town hall claimed receiving a bomb threat over the telephone last Monday.

Belen Carel, personnel manager of the town, said the caller told her a bomb was planted somewhere in the building to avenge the arrest of Teodoro Sericon.

Sericon was picked up by the 78th Infantry Brigade and the Danao City police last January 1 for his alleged participation in the raid of a military detachment in Cawrasan, Carmen in 2003. He was arrested in his sister's house in barangay Sabang, Danao City.

Sericon was turned over to the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center the following day for security reasons.

However, police said the allegation made by the caller should not be taken seriously because the caller's voice was muffled, which would indicate that the caller could be any of the town's employees. - Norvie S. Misa
