Inspired by the success of the 26th Cebu Popular Music Festival last week, Cebu 1st district Rep. Eduardo Gullas, who heads the Cebu Arts Foundation Inc., announced that the organization would be embarking on a Cebu Pop Goes Broadway project to take off in August in time for the founding anniversary of the Province of Cebu.
Gullas explained that the Cebu Pop Goes Broadway project aims to create a cultural renaissance in Cebu by creating a diffusion of cultural activities here, that at the same time would serve as an avenue toward the discovery of local talents in the field of the performing arts.
Cebu Pop Goes Broadway is open to bonafide, regular students of Cebu City's eight universities and six colleges. The foundation will be giving each school P10,000 as seed money. However, Gullas pointed out that the musical performances are non-competitive.
