What she thought was just going to be a friendly acquaintance turned into a horrible experience for a 17-year-old jobless girl, who was allegedly raped by a 30-year old businessman, who was recent acquaintance promising to give her a job.
Jenny (not her real name) temporarily residing in Guizo, Mandaue City, trusted Victor Nacua of V. Rama, Cebu City, who offered her a free ride going to a mall, where he reportedly knows somebody that can give her employment.
Lured by the promise, she went with the suspect, but instead of going to the mall, from Lapu-Lapu City, she was taken somewhere else. In a secluded part of the Mandaue Reclamation Area, Jenny claimed that the suspect consummated his sexual desire despite her resistance.
The victim, who hails from Negros reported her ordeal to the Subangdaku Police Station the following day. The police immediately referred her to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, where it was found that she was indeed sexually abused.
When hope of finding the suspect was fading since the victim only met her shortly before her ordeal, Jenny received a phone call last Monday from Nacua.
The suspect reportedly asked the girl if she again wanted a sexual encounter.
Thinking quickly, the girl reported the matter to the women's desk at the hospital and SPO4 Eddie Casas of the Cebu City's SWAT Team helped hatch a plan to arrest the suspect.
Jenny agreed to meet Nacua in front of a department store Monday afternoon and that was where he has arrested.
Nacua introduced himself to Jenny as Jake Robles during their first meeting.
Nacua, according to police investigator SPOI Alfredo Andales, owns a fishing business in Bantayan Island. The suspect, who is now detained at the Mandaue City Jail was formally charged with rape before the Mandaue City Prosecutor's Offfice yesterday. - Mitchelle P. Calipayan
