Pahina officials push firemen's access road

-
City hall officials are now studying the request of barangay Pahina Central for the construction of an access road from Natalio Bacalso Avenue to Sanciangko Street that will traverse the area where hundreds of houses were razed in a fire that hit the place last month.

The officials of barangay Pahina Central headed by barangay captain Sesinio Andales came up with a resolution asking City Hall to study the possible construction of the access road so that the fire trucks can penetrate the interior portions.

The huge block surrounded by Natalio Bacalso Avenue and Leon Kilat, Panganiban and Sanciangko streets does not have such roads and firefighters had difficulty containing the fire that hit the area on November 5.

"Dugay kaayo namo nga mapawong ang kayo kay magsumpay-sumpay pa mi og mga hose aron makaabot sa interior, unya ang pressure sa tubig mohinay na sab, (We will take a long time to put out the fire because we still have to connect the hoses to get to the interior and by then the water pressure will go down)," a fireman said.

The officials of barangay Pahina Central are hoping that the construction of the access road will start early next year.

Other barangays have access roads leading to the residential areas but some of them are no longer passable by the fire trucks because houses have encroached onto the road. - Rene U. Borromeo
