3 missing German divers found safe

-
Three Germans who were reported missing last Friday afternoon while scuba diving in one of the beaches in Anda town, Bohol, were found alive yesterday morning by a group of fishermen along the shores of Limasawa Island, Southern Leyte.

The three Germans Holger Holly Clopper, 40; Philip Xaungertenr, 35; and Jurgen Undemeier, 35, currently staying at Flower Beach Club and Resort in barangay Virgen, Anda, Bohol, went scuba diving off the coast of Anda last Friday noon.

Later, all three of them failed to notice they were nearing the Philippine Deep and the heavy current swept them towards Limasawa Island.

Worried that they failed to surface, their compatriot Bonnie Mueller told the hotel management about the incident, the management immediately sought the help of the 505th Search and Rescue Group in Manila.

The second Search and Rescue Squadron of the 505th Search and Rescue Group of the Philippine Airforce based in Lapu-Lapu City was immediately dispatched to the area, but low-flying aircraft reported seeing nothing as of late Friday afternoon.

All the three divers were found the following day along the shorelines of Limasawa Island after waving and shouting to a group of fishermen from barangay Magallanes, Limasawa, who happened to pass by.

The fishermen sailed them back to the Flower Beach Club and Resort in Anda around noon yesterday. - Flor Z. Perolina
