As that developed, the council also encouraged the family of the victim and the Akrho organization in general to file appropriate charges against the culprit if they have sufficient proof so as not to jeopardize the ongoing peace process between their groups.
The council pointed out that both organizations are enjoying a relatively peaceful atmosphere recently following a dialogue that was organized by Governor Gwen Garcia last September.
The victim, Alvin Aragis, 30, an elementary school teacher assigned in Olango Island was drinking with his girlfriend Marchie Caberte along Alviola Street, sitio Villagonzalo II, of the said barangay at past 2 a.m. last Thursday when the incident happened.
Two men, one of them using a handkerchief to cover his face, came and called Aragis over before shooting him in the head twice at close range, killing him instantly.
Homicide Section chief Mario Monilar said the incident may be fraternity-related due to the fact that the victim was an active Akrho member.
Last Thursday, Tau Gamma member Glenn Codiñera showed up at the Homicide Section to voluntarily undergo a paraffin test after allegations that he was one of those who shot Aragis.
But while the result of the paraffin is yet to be known reports said that Codiñera is already nowhere to be found as he has a standing arrest warrant for murder issued by judge Olegario Sarmiento Jr. on July 15, 2003.
But the council yesterday said it has yet to confirm whether Codiñera, alias "Boknoy", is indeed a member of Tau Gamma as it expected to meet the members of its chapter in Tejero last night. - Ryan P. Borinaga
