Experts from the Explosive Ordnance Division of the Central Command briefed the 20 policemen on how to detect explosives and on the appropriate actions to be undertaken during recovery.
Mandaue City police command chief Pablo Florante Lamosao said that aside from the members of the Special Weapons and Tactics, the six police precincts of the city also sent their representatives to the training.
In yesterday's opening of the training, experts briefed participants on the various kinds of military ammunition and explosives, improvised device, land mines and placed ammunitions.
After the identification, police were also trained what actions they are supposed to take in consideration of public and personal safety.
"Kinahanglan gyud kaayo sa atong mga kapolisan nga makahibalo pag-ila sa bisan unsang klase sa bomba, ingon man sa angayang buhaton kon makita kini (It is a must for our policemen to be able to identify all types of bombs, and know what appropriate actions to be undertaken when they find one)," Lamosao said.
Mayor Thadeo Ouano announced his full support for the conduct of the said training for the city cops.
He said that such endeavor is not only beneficial during the city's hosting of the sports events, but also in future big events in Mandaue. - Jose P. Sollano
