The Talisay City Council yesterday approved a resolution congratulating The FREEMAN columnist and ABS-CBN news anchor Leo Lastimosa for coveting the Best Newscaster award in the 2005 KBP Golden Dove Awards held in Manila last October.
In yesterday's regular session, the council, through a resolution sponsored by councilor Rodi Cabigas, extended their congratulatory remarks to Lastimosa for having been adjudged last October 26 as best newscaster in the country.
Lastimosa is a native of Talisay City. He is currently holding a news program dubbed TV Patrol Central Visayas that was hailed the best news program during the 2005 Catholic Mass Media Awards.
"It is a fact that Leo Andanar Lastimosa demonstrated a commendable competence, integrity and fairness in the field of newscasting and showed his dedication and deep love for his country and people by his humble service as a media man," the resolution read.
Cabigas said it is proper and suitable for the city to show "unfathomable concern, pride and appreciation" considering that he is a Talisaynon whose aim is to serve and deliver honest, sincere, fair and just reports to the people.
