The Philippine Postal Corporation has selected 25 areas in the country as pilot areas for its new Express Pouch Service (EPS).
PHILPOST regional information officer Josephine Layco, in a press release, said the Express Pouch Service is a new postal product that guarantees 24-hour, door-to-door two-way delivery service either by land or air. Mail items are placed in pouches depending on the size. Small pouches are available for items weighing 500 grams, medium pouches for items weighing 1 kilogram, and a large pouch for items weighing 2 kilograms.
Layco said the new service was borne out of the need of big businesses to exchange documents and information with their various branches and subsidiaries within the country on a fairly reliable and consistent delivery time basis.
The areas being served by the air route of the EPS are; Bacolod City, Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, Cotabato City, Davao City, General Santos City, Iloilo City, Kalibo, Aklan, Lapulapu City, Legaspi City, Mandaue City, Puerto Princesa City, Roxas City, Tacloban City, Tagbilaran City and Zamboanga City.
Areas being served by the land route are Pampanga, including San Fernando, Angeles City, Subic, Clark Air Base, Tagaytay City, San Pablo City and Lucena City.
EPS pouches come with a delivery receipt that the sender fills in for delivery instructions such as how the package should be handled.
A proof of delivery is mailed back to the sender within 24 hours from the time the pouch is received. The sender may also request that the proof of delivery be faxed to him or her or that a text or email message be sent as soon as the recipient gets the package. - Jasmin R. Uy
