The city government is granting P10,000 as incentives to each of the 35 barangays whose officials were present during the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) consultative assembly two weeks ago.
The cash incentives, intended for the children's programs in the 35 barangays, will come from the discretionary funds of Mayor Tomas Osmeña. Previously, only 24 of the city's 80 barangays have active BCPCs.
The barangays that would receive cash incentives are Carreta, T. Padilla, Pung-ol Sibugay, Adlaon, San Roque, Agsungot, Pulangbato, Cambinocot, Apas, Ermita, Cogon Central Ramos, Lorega San Miguel, Pit-os, Tinago, Pahina Central, Sto. Niño, Camputhaw, Day-as, Busay and Mabolo in the north district, and Buhisan, Cogon Pardo, Kinasang-an, San Nicolas Proper, Duljo Fatima, Kalunasan, Tisa, Pamutan, Sawang Calero, Pasil, Inayawan, Calamba, Basak Pardo, Suba and Pahina San Nicolas in the south district.
During their assembly, the barangay officials were asked to comment on the implementation of BCPC in their respective villages.
The participants made some suggestions on how to go over the obstacles in the BCPC implementation to draw more children to participate in activities intended for them.
