3 men rob Toledo gas station of P13-T

Three motorcycle-riding men robbed a gasoline station in barangay Sangi, Toledo City yesterday dawn and ran away with P13,000 and the cashier's mobile phone.

The gasoline station is located in front of the barangay hall where tanods usually stay through the night.

The men, riding in two red and black motorcycles without plate numbers, arrived at a little past midnight posing as customers and asked an attendant to fill up their vehicles' tanks.

After the tanks were filled up, one of the men, riding at the back of one of the motorcycles, alighted and approached the cashier's booth. But instead of paying, he pointed a caliber-.38 revolver to the cashier saying, "Ayaw ug lihok kay tulis ni (Don't move, this is a hold-up)."

The man then ordered the cashier to scoop up all the money from the cashbox and hand them to him, of which the cashier obeyed. Shortly after, the three men quickly fled to barangay Lutopan.

Sangi councilman Ver Manayon, upon learning of the incident, called up the Toledo City Police but the robbers were already gone by the time the policemen arrived at the scene.

Barangay captain Victor Gerongco, who owns the gasoline station, said it was the first time his establishment was robbed. He said he did not detail a security guard there because it is located in front of the barangay hall where there are tanods most of the time. - Flor Z. Perolina
