Former town mayor loses P200T to theft

- Ryan P. Borinaga -
Former Ginatilan Mayor Antonio Singco accused his driver of stealing P200, 000 from him last Saturday at his house in barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City.

In his affidavit that was completed at the Theft and Robbery Section, Singco claimed that at about 3 pm last Saturday, he and his driver Eddie Cantago arrived home from Ginatilan.

Minutes after their arrival, he and Cantago went to a cockpit in Banawa where he stayed there for almost two hours leaving his driver waiting for him outside.

According to Singco, at past 5 pm he got out of the cockpit and went to where his driver was supposedly waiting for him but he never found him there, although the car was there.

He said he peeped into the window thinking Cantago was just sleeping inside, but the driver wasn't there. Although the door was closed, the key was left attached to its keyhole so he decided to drive the vehicle.

Upon arrival, he immediately looked for Cantago but his helper Merlinda Cabador said she had no idea where Cantago was.

Thus, he proceeded to his room and found out that the cabinet where he placed his black bag containing the money was forcibly opened, the bag and the money already missing.

This time, Cabador told Singco that Cantago went back to the house from cockpit in Banawa. Cabador said that Cantago told her he was sent by Singco to get the bag.
