Patrol cars redeployed to 'strategic' areas
September 30, 2005 | 12:00am
The city police yesterday changed the deployment of its vehicles which are now deployed in strategic locations for a quicker response as an offshoot to the Eastwest bank robbery last Monday.
Acting-city director Melvin Gayotin said he already instructed Mobile Patrol Group chief Arnel Banzon to effect the changes immediately as a counter-measure against robbery.
He said that before mobile patrols were detailed in exit points, but this should be changed now by deploying the vehicles in strategic locations so that there is a more focused area of responsibility.
Areas with no vehicles should be patrolled by motorcycle cops from the soon-to-be-established Beat Patrol Section.
For now Gayotin is moving for the immediate establishment of the said section because from there would be formed the anti-snatching and hold-up team.
Gayotin is still waiting for the radios from the city government while he also requested for 12 motorcycles to be used by the personnel of the said section.
Meanwhile the case against four suspected robbers responsible for the recent bank heist is set to be filed today, according to Theft and Robbery Section chief Ambrosio Ibones.
Although their names are still being withheld, indications tend to point to the modus operandi of the Rey Torres and Danny Limotan robbery group. - Ryan P. Borinaga
