Collector robbed of P30T in Cordova

A collector of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., was robbed of P30,000 by a masked man who held her up at gunpoint while she was riding a pedal-driven tricycle, in barangay Dapitan, Cordova last Tuesday morning.

Police investigators lately reported however that they already have a suspect whose name, according to his friend who squealed to the police, was Iluminado "Cocoy" Sumalinog Jr., who borrowed his shirt and wore it in robbing the lady collector.

The 21-year-old victim Arlene Zulletas Manzanadales, a Talisay City resident, told the police she just came from barangay Cogon where she collected payments from RAFI members over loans for small livelihood projects.

She took a trisikad and was on her way to barangay Ibabao where she would get a ride home to Cebu City. Upon reaching Dapitan, however, a man wearing a bonnet stopped the trisikad, aimed his gun at her, and grabbed her bag containing her cash collection.

Cordova policeman, SPO1 Henry Amores, said they already recovered the bonnet and the victim's empty bag in a bushy place near the scene of the crime.

Amores believed the suspect was familiar with the routine of the victim who always go to Cogon every Monday to collect the payment of RAFI members there.

Sumalinog is still at-large but Manzanadales said she would file robbery charges against him. - Flor Z. Perolina
