Homicide investigator Mario Monilar told reporters yesterday that Susan Perales decided not to charge her son and even wants the boy released from the center that took him into custody.
But Monilar said he would coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development on what to do with the juvenile because he reportedly does not want to go back to the care of his mother.
For the moment, the boy is with the Community Scout Center and would not be released unless a relative would surface to take custody of him, as this is what Monilar wants.
Monilar said he would wait for the father of the boy who is reportedly a member of the Philippine Navy assigned in Manila because he wanted to make it sure that the boy would be under the care of somebody who is able and responsible.
Initial investigation conducted by SPO1 Jay Yballe revealed that the victim followed the boy at pier 4 where he was found reportedly sniffing commercial adhesive or rugby with other minors. His mother ordered him to go home that Sunday morning.
Upon arrival at their house, the mother reportedly scolded her son and that started an argument between them. Later on the mother allegedly grabbed a chain.
Yballe said the mother had reportedly used the chain in beating her children over the years, and that she reportedly would even tie her children using such whenever she became angry.
When the boy saw that his mother grabbed the chain, he quickly grabbed a knife and stabbed her on the upper back portion of her body.
Wounded, the victim still managed to grapple for possession of the knife until they went outside of their shanty prompting neighbors to come to her aid and rush her to hospital. The boy was then arrested.
The mother is already out of danger but is still confined at the Cebu City Medical Center.
