Meeting with Akrho 'productive' - Gwen
September 22, 2005 | 12:00am
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia described her meeting with the leaders of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity yesterday as productive as the group promised to adopt a more strict policy in its recruitment of members.
The governor requested Richard Buscayno and the other leaders of Akrho who were present to require barangay and police clearances from new recruits to ensure that they are of good moral standing.
According to Buscayno, his group assured Garcia it would hold chapter presidents responsible for every erring member under them.
The governor however admitted that there can be no immediate solution to the problem but at least they have already taken the first step. Garcia said she is meeting with the 186 presidents of the various chapters of Akrho on the second week of October.
Garcia will be meeting the members of the Tau Gamma fraternity this Friday at 4 pm.
Meanwhile, Garcia's move in meeting two leaders of warring fraternities has the support of Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano.
"Now thatGovernor Garcia has stepped into the conflict, we fully support her," Ouano said. - Fred P. Languido and Jose P. Sollano
