Police arrested a member of the Philippine Air Force who had figured in a traffic incident and was making a scene in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday.
Sgt. Roy Marabeles assigned at the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base was detained at the Lapu-Lapu city jail after he allegedly assaulted police officers Jonathan Espinoza and James Fuentes for no apparent reason. But some witnesses said Marabeles reportedly got involved in a heated argument with bystanders after he figured in a traffic incident. When policemen tried to pacify him, he reportedly got irked and turned his ire on the cops.
The policemen who sustained injuries filed charges against Marabeles before the City Prosecutor's office.
However, Marabeles was released from detention shortly after being detained. - Jose P. Sollano
