Mandaue tops Surigao festival

The Mantawi Festival of Mandaue City contingent bagged the P150,000 grand prize in the Bonoc-Bonoc Festival in Surigao City last Friday.
The contingent from Mandaue City, led by Councilor Wenceslao Gakit who represented Mayor Thadeo Ouano, was also judged best in costume and props.
The contingent from Davao City and Claver town in Surigao City placed second and third respectively.
Gakit expressed his gratitude to the Department of Education and the city department heads and employees. He said choreographer Oliver Fiqueroa and Department of Education coordinator in Mandaue City Virginia Lobitana contributed to the success of the Mantawi Festival contingent.
The Mantawi Festival participated in the opening program of the Garbo sa Central Visayas in Manila last week. The activity, sponsored by the Department of Tourism, was designed to make the whole Central Visayas attractive to tourists. - Jose P. Sollano
