The National Police Commission has decided that the names of police applicants must be published in the newspapers and posted in conspicuous places to encourage the public to report any derogatory information against them so to ensure that only those qualified will be accepted into the service.
It was learned that Napolcom Memorandum Circular No. 2005-002 requires publication whenever there would be a recruitment of new policemen. But police officials here reportedly have not complied with it yet.
Napolcom chairman Angelo Reyes explained that the concept is similar to the marriage bans observed by the Catholic Church. He assured that the Napolcom would treat all information with utmost confidentiality.
Under the new policy, the city police directors or chiefs of police are required to publish the list of police applicants in public places and in newspapers to encourage the public to report any information on the worthiness of the applicants to become law enforcers in their community.
