V-hire group eyeing prov'l bus terminal

More than 20 members of a van-for-hire group in Carcar recently requested Governor Gwen Garcia to be accommodated at the Cebu Provincial South Bus Terminal citing that their present station at One Citilink Terminal has been too costly to them.
Roger Baclaan, president of Drivers Empowered Transports Operators United for Recognition-Carcar, Inc., sent the letter through Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez because the governor is currently in China.
Baclaan's group said its V-hire members want to avail or utilize a space for loading and unloading passengers at the province-owned terminal instead of the private-owned Citilink.
Baclaan said Citilink requires them to pay the annual membership fee of P4,000 plus a registration fee of P2,000, aside from the P80 each time they get out of the terminal gate with or without passenger.
"By posting 'No Entry' signs in almost all city streets leave us no choice but to load and unload passengers at One Citilink Terminal that costs us a lot of money," Baclaan said, adding that the worsening economic situation even makes them suffer more.
