The joint team arrested Jeremy Dean Dunlap in Calape, Bohol yesterday morning based on a federal warrant of arrest for rape.
NBI regional director Medardo de Lemos who led the operation said that Dunlap was inside a restaurant and was to board a vessel bound for Cebu when arrested.
The United States embassy sought the NBI assistance last month for the arrest of Dunlap who is wanted by the U.S. marshals since 2003. Dunlap entered the country on April 2003 based on immigration records.
Aside from the six counts of rape charges involving minors, Dunlap was reported to have been previously convicted in America for sexual assault.
De Lemos said the NBI has been looking for Dunlap since last week. Dunlap is married to a woman from Bohol.
Dunlap was turned over by the NBI last night to immigration regional director Geronimo Rosas who is also expected to turn him over to U.S. authorities. The members of the U.S. marshals will escort Dunlap today back to America to face his charges. - Fred P. Languido
