To further promote Cebu: 3 city dads to go to Xiamen

-
To further promote Cebu to the world, the city council has approved the trip of three city councilors to Xiamen, China this month for the 9th China International Fair for Investment and Trade.

Councilors Arsenio Pacaña, Eduardo Rama Jr. and Nestor Archival Sr. will comprise the city's official delegation to the international fair, which will be participated in by public officials and businessmen from various countries around the world.

In his resolution endorsing the trip of the counselors, Councilor Edgardo Labella said "the sister cities relationship between Cebu City and Xiamen could definitely be bolstered through continued trade and investment interactions."

As official delegates of the city, the three counselors will travel on official business time from September 8 to 11.

A letter dated August 22, 2005 from the foreign affairs office of the Xiamen Municipal Government formally invited the councilors to the gathering.

"I cordially invite you and Cebu official delegation to Xiamen for the 9th China International Fair for Investment and Trade. As an important event in our calendar, it is held in Xiamen from 8th to 11th of September annually. It attracts senior officials and business people from all around the world. We believe it is also an opportunity to promote Cebu City and enhance the sister cities relationship between Xiamen and Cebu," said Chen Aijing, director general of the Xiamen foreign affairs office. - Joeberth M.
