A Provincial Board member yesterday suggested the blacklisting of the contractor of the Legislative Building project after finding violations of the contract that the firm had entered into with the provincial government.
Provincial Board Member Jose Maria Gastardo suggested during yesterday's regular session of the PB that Dakay Construction should be blacklisted for violating the specifications in the contract. Eulogio Pelayre, officer in charge of the Provincial Engineering's Office, and Raymund Bertulfo of Dakay Construction admitted that the microphones installed at the session hall of the building was not in accordance with the items specified in the contract.
But Bertulfo told the board that the sound system, termed as "discussion system," was an extra work for Dakay Construction of the P61-million building.
Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, who chairs the board committee on infrastructure, also lashed at the Dakay Construction for various defects found in the entire building that included the uneven flooring at the rooftop and several leakages.
Considering that the contract with the Dakay Construction had already expired a year ago, Sanchez said he would recommend another Performance Bond for the firm. But he said they would still give the firm a chance to comply with everything specified in the contract.
The provincial government did not issue a Certificate of Acceptance to Dakay Construction although the building was already issued an Occupancy Permit.
