Wanted Akrho man no longer in Cebu

Intelligence sources yesterday said Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity member Aristotle Aves, considered one of the most wanted men in the metropolis, is no longer in Cebu.

The source said it was when suspected notorious robber Ruel Rey Torres was arrested last June that Aves finally decided to leave Cebu, convinced that the task force created to pursue him last March was catching up.

Records at the Homicide Section reveal that Ares has been implicated in a string of cases ranging from murder to frustrated murder from January 12, 2004 up to January 7 this year.

On January 12 last year, Ares, Sonny dela Cruz and a certain "Waway" were charged for the death of Eduardo Paradero in Duljo-Fatima.

Paradero, a construction worker, was killed by a stray bullet during an encounter between a group of Akrho and Tau Gamma Phi fratmen.

On June 12 last year, Ares and Dela Cruz were charged with frustrated murder for shooting Ritchie Hukdong also in Duljo-Fatima and a month after was implicated in an attempted homicide case.

Last September 22, he was implicated in an attempted murder case for attacking Jose Ocampo in Duljo-Fatima and then a frustrated murder case was filed against him and Dela Cruz on October 4.

An attempted murder case was lodged against him December 12, then a murder case on December 21 and finally another murder case last January 7, for shooting Danilo Canao in Duljo-Fatima. Meanwhile a 21-year-old high school student and Akrho member was shot by an unknown assailant last Friday noon in barangay Banilad.

Donald Sanchez was shot in the neck but has been declared out of danger by doctors at the Cebu City Medical Center where he is confined.

Investigators believed it was a case of mistaken identity and not fraternity-related because the assailant was reportedly eating barbecue nearby before he shot the victim. - Ryan P. Borinaga
