A Chinese businessman engaged in the sale of sandals committed suicide yesterday evening by jumping off from the fire exit at the 7th floor of the Go Chan Uy Building along Manalili Street, Cebu City.
Cai Zhi Qiang, 32, single, of Xiamen, China hit some power lines before hitting the ground. He sustained severe head injury that caused his instantaneous death.
Homicide investigator Jay Eballe said that Cai was identified by Mariano So, the president of the Sinwa association of Chinese businessmen here in Cebu City.
Eballe added that the victim used to rent a store along Manalili Street, but folded up last year after he decided to just supply sandals made in China to Chinese businessmen here.
Though there were speculations that the suicide was related to business problems, Eballe said that the real cause is still to be established.
