DepEd to start new vocational program

The Department of Education will implement its redesigned technical vocational school program in support of the department's thrust for productive, relevant and quality vocational education.
The redesigned program is an enhancement of the current technical-vocational curriculum and is focused on the 21st century core skills like the digital age literacy, inventive thinking, effective communication and high productivity.
The program will be implemented at the first year level beginning the school year and will be implemented successfully in the next year levels in the next year levels.
The curriculum design of the program is that the technical vocational education in the first year will be an introductory course on the basic principles and practices in each of the component areas such as Home Economics, Industrial Arts, Agriculture, Fishery arts and entrepreneurship.
Specialization will start in the second year and will be offered based on the interest of the students, demands of the community and the capacity of the school to offer such specialization while the concepts of entrepreneurship will be integrated in the next higher levels.
The curricular program will also be flexible to accommodate the related activities outside the school like the practicum in the work environment.
